Is what you are doing today getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow?

Is what you’re doing today getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow? Many of us have an image or we used to have an image in our heads of where we want to be in 5 years, 10 years, or even where we want to be right now. Unfortunately, society has knocked us down at some point and many of us donโ€™t set goals or donโ€™t know how to set goals. We simply do what is told to us and often donโ€™t even get to think for ourselves. But, it’s so important to think ahead in our lives and plan for things. It’s a positive thing to set goals and work towards something. It helps you feel successful at a task. It helps you have a purpose for what you do each day. It helps you feel accomplished at the end of the day.

ย

Setting goals does so many good things for yourself. It helps provide focus so you can align and guide your life. Goal setting also allows you to find clarity in your life. This can help you make decisions on what is a priority each day. When you have a goal you are also able to overcome procrastination, because you are excited to work towards the next step towards your goal. When you have a goal and you know the steps working towards your goal it provides a way to measure your progress and see you succeed at each step. Because of this, you also improve your self confidence, and at the same time, reduce stress and make your life easier.

So, do you have a goal or goals youโ€™re working towards? Do you wake up excited to work towards something you are excited about? Take a moment and think of the things you did today. Is what you’re doing today getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow?

ย

Are you working towards finishing a project at work?ย  So you were able to check things off of that work to do list.

ย

Are you trying to strengthen your relationship with God? So you spent some time in prayer with Him as you dive deeper in your faith.

ย

Are you being intentional on spending more time with your family? So you blocked out time for the family to play a game or two after dinner.

ย

Donโ€™t get too carried away. Not everything we do each day is going to be for a mind blowing life purpose. But you need to be sure to include things and activities in your day that are part of the bigger picture. There are short term goals and long term goals. You need to have both of these in your life. Short term is usually within the next couple years. Long term goals are usually five or more years into your future. Your goals can be simple or complicated, it doesnโ€™t matter. Maybe itโ€™s simply getting the hall closet cleaned out this spring. Maybe itโ€™s bigger, and you’re getting ready for a kitchen remodel. Whatever it is, it gives you something to work towards, something to strive to complete, something to look forward to.

Take a few minutes each week to set some goals, or check in on the current goals you have set. You are worth it! Take a look at what you do each day and make sure what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
